Jason Brown - Olympic Bronze Medalist - Praises David
How often do you get an Olympic Bronze Medalist take the time to look at your efforts as a figure skater? How often do you find someone kind enough to take the time, not only to say hi, but to praise your efforts and reinforce your hard work. This is the kind of young man Jason Brown is - a wonderful role model.
Richard Alexander, David's coach and trainer here in San Jose, was in Chicago last week and connected Jason with David via text message. They were going to simply swap pictures. However, I was on the phone on this end and thought why not send a tiny video of David practicing. Here is what the slow motion video looked like:
Immediately, Jason texted back and sent this wonderful video greeting in return:
As you can imagine, it made David's day.
What a wonderful thing to do - reaching out to young figure skaters and reinforcing them with a few words of praise. It is the type of motivation and support money can not buy - helping them to continue early morning practices and competitive performances.
We appreciate it. We also want to preserve this moment in David's blog so that years later he might reflect on the experience and extend the same courtesy and generosity of spirit to others.
