Glasses, Honor Roll, Skating, Violin, Fries, and Brown Belt - Happy Thanksgiving!

Renaissance Man

This man is something else.  This week was packed, but as I reflected on it, the events of each day (and parts of each day) really capture the full flavor of this little man's existence on this earth.

Glasses

The week started with an eye examination - to everyone's surprise David needs glasses (minor correction for the computer games and maybe even for reading every so often).  He chose the glasses (and the accompanying sun glasses). He is actually a voracious reader.

New Glasses

Parent Teacher Conference

Then, it was time to run to the parent, student, teacher conference.  David presented his progress report.  He was clear and thorough.  He also has an extraordinary teacher - attuned to his development and aimed at helping him excel.  By the way, guess who made honor roll.

Honor Roll

I think I needed to put my glasses on to make sure I was reading right - just kidding.  I know he is a very bright little man.

Skating

Before school, there is of course, time for skating.  The man recently placed first at a competition in Utah - yes we flew to Utah for him - at least he remembered his routine right? Now he is getting ready to compete again (so it is more 7 am lessons for the rest of the year).

Violin

Oh yes - the man also plays violin.  He has a wonderful teacher - exacting, but kid friendly.  David was honored recently by being selected to join the San Jose Junior Symphony.

Violin Practice

Fries

Yes - in spite of this hectic schedule, there is always time for air fried french fries.  Healthy and they actually taste great.  We made them together and after the first taste he was addicted.  "Dad can you make another plate for breakfast?"  No way little man - but they do taste good.

Karate

You get the idea - this is a real Renaissance man.  Together we practiced and practiced and practiced and last night we passed the martial arts test.  We both made it to brown belt candidacy.  I was a lot more nervous than he was - but we did it together.

Reliving a Tiny Part of the Test

What a great way to end the week in time for Thanksgiving and trust me we are very thankful for this little man - sensitive, humble, and full of boundless energy.

Wonderful to have such a happy man by our side from day to day - that is the greatest gift of all.

(If the martial arts video are not working I will put them on YouTube and create a link to them from here.)
