Donate His Long Blonde Locks

Donating His Locks to Kids with Cancer

We are so proud of our little man today.  Yes he is getting A's this quarter.  Yes he is practicing figure skating early in the morning before school starts.  Yes he is keeping up with his violin training.

But last night (at karate) he said he wanted to get his hair cut and donate it to kids with cancer.  Well we stopped everything to meet that request.  The swim instructor was notified and his lesson rescheduled.  Martial arts sparring was put on hold.

Summer made the appointment.  I stopped work and picked him up from school and run up to Craig (Summer's stylist) in Palo Alto.  We wanted to make sure the cut looked good, particularly if there were any regrets about his decision.

He explained why he was doing this before we started:

Ok - lets get started:

Let the drums roll:

We even have a video clip of the ritual in action:

He did it!

He is quite proud of his decision!

Mom watched by videoconference.
Craig didn't mind this videoconference hair cutting event.

Shampoo and blow dry - why not right?
May as well have a good time with a good cause.

The finished product at home (with his new sports jacket).

The locks were donated to Locks of Love so that small child with cancer might have a little more dignity in their life.

We explained to David that this is what we call a mitvah or good deed.
He understood how proud we were/are of him.

What a nice day.
It was worth stopping everything and rescheduling life to make this come true.

Thanks for sharing this particularly special day with us.
