David is Standing: Is walking far away now?

Standing for the First Time. Yes - this morning he pulled himself up and stood up. He did it like it was nothing.

I was downstairs taking care of the garbage and recycling - the garbage man was coming at any moment and Summer yelled out the window. "He is standing." I came running with my new iPhone (did I mention I got one - it is so cool but I digress).

(See Mr. David with a look of "Why are you so surprised? Just because I only come up to your knee Dad?")

Little David saw the cell phone on the basket and it was just too enticing. Up he went (and even on his toes as my mom noticed when I sent her the picture).

A few snapshots later and the moment was recorded in history - August 21, 2007 (Sarah's birthday). What a day!

[See Sarah on the right, she just came home to a card, chocolate, a gift, and rose petals everywhere. Michael asked for permission to make it a special birthday with rose petals and the works. He is a nice guy. In addition, he likes little David too.]

Mom's 80th Birthday - Family Reunion 2007

Happy Birthday Mom! This picture, to the left, is a caricature of my mom during her college days. My mom takes particular pride in displaying this picture. It was actually designed to be less than flattering and in some ways to belittle her. Her accomplishments over a life time, however, have been extraordinary, certainly surpassing those who treated her as a hick or country girl. So this was the theme of the party.
We can see little David is front and center for the immediate family shot, must be that bald head of his. The rest of us look pretty darn good too.

On the left, you can see he was dressed for the occassion with a white shirt, gray slacks, a black vest, and a gray tie. The little guy looked good.

Below is a picture of the party, with my mom's red dress - check out the slit on the left leg side. Pretty sexy mom.

The Day After the Party

Eden, Bethami's little girl, had a ball with little David. They played and laughed a good part of the morning. It was contagious - we all started laughing. Click on the photo below, Eden kissing little David, to activate the laugh fest (video).

Click on picture above to display the mini-video of the laugh fest.

Sarah and her friend Maddie also had a great time with the little guy. They brought him into the fort they build on Bubbie's deck (with extra sheets and lawn furniture). It was their hide-away (and little David loved being in their with them). Talk about chatter. As you can see, a fun time was had by all. What a nice family reunion. Happy Birthday Mom! I am glad you had a good time too.

Fireworks - July 3rd (at Stanford)

Fireworks! Yes, I got the date right. Stanford has a fireworks tradition on July 3rd (to beat the crowds I guess). This one was special. Little David came with us and Sarah too. We got there in daylight to get a seat (pick a spot on the ground and bring your blanket to picnic).

Slowly night, like a big blanket, covered us. We were not sure how little David was going to respond to the fireworks, the Big Band music, and the crowds - but Mr. Sociability loved it (as long as we were happy and secure with it).

Sarah had a great time too. She met a friend from Children's International School Days (her elementary school). Her friend was really tall now - really growing up. Sarah carried little David back to the car at the end of the day.
