Happy Thanksgiving 2012

Happy Thanksgiving!

Well somebody enjoyed the Thanksgiving meal.  Of course, it doesn't hurt that he has had the entire week off.  Us exhausted?  No way - ok maybe a little - but not this little man.  He is energized beyond belief.

Even the Turkeys were out and about - at least in our neighborhood.

Then there were a few turkeys a little less than ecstatic about the day.

But for us human beings, what's not to like.  The food was great.  Turkey, sweet potatoes, green beens, stuffing, and look at that gravy.  No worries, we didn't forget the cranberries (or the classic pumpkin pie).

It was a festive occasion.  Everyone was all smiles.
(Not the normal family squabbles - just a nice quiet afternoon - well as quiet as you can get with a recently turned 6 year old.)

Oh yes - we even had holiday flowers, for that feeling of elegance and natural beauty.

We were even serenaded by the little guy in preparation for his performance at a senior center next week.

(Click here for the YouTube video of his brief performance.)

Even Dad got a chance to sit down and eat (at one sitting).

Happy Thanksgiving from the Fettermans.

PS Sarah is still in school but texted her Happy Thanksgiving sentiments.

Puppy Sofia Joins the Fetterman Family

Look What Just Arrived:  Special Delivery!

This is Sofia - a rat terrier - puppy, puppy, puppy!

I know what you are thinking - so cute, adorable right?

Well - little David loves her - no question about it.

A boy's delight.  Of course, the girls at his after school program were swooning over this little ball of fur.

Mom is really the reason we have Sofia.  She wanted another dog.  However, the plan was not a puppy but you know how these things happen.

A student was given this pure bred, was overwhelmed, gave it to his mom, they put the puppy on Craigslist for sale with an absolute deadline, and, bottom line, it was on its way to the pound.

Summer saw the add and made the call.  We arrived at the door and it was clear this was a hand-off situation - literally.  The mom held the puppy in the air to hand it over to us, no food, no dish, no toys - "just take it" was the message that came across non-verbally.

We brought the little girl home.  Bitsy loved playing with this little girl.  (Although sometimes you can see Sofia is perceived as a nuisance - Bitsy is getting a bit older.  But overall, Bitsy enjoyed having a little buddy to knock around.  No worries - she is pretty gentle with her.)

Since Thanksgiving is right around the corner, Dad has some time to make the little man some lunch in the park - nothing like a grilled cheese sandwich in the middle of the day on the grass right?

We can see David is enjoying his sandwich, but Sofia is so at home she is looking at David's lunch too - maybe feeling a little too entitled already.

Dad just looks on - cute little puppy - but remind me, "how did this happen again?"
