Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!

We had a great brunch at Il Fornio, downtown San Jose.  Like usual David had a blast.  Ironically, our neighbors (who David just played with) went to the same place and were sitting a few booths away from us.

They were a great motivator because we told David he could not go over and say hi and play until he finished eating his food.

You never saw food go down so quickly - which is a miracle for David - trust me.  Usually it takes something approximating eternity.  He is such a curious man and fun loving that he is easily distracted by everything in the universe.  So to get him this focused and eating is nothing short of a miracle.

Summer looked good, as usual.  She just got a new dress - which looks great on her.

Formal dining doesn't mean we didn't have fun in the sun.  It was over 100 fahrenheit.  So what else could we do - water fight.

We got drenched.  He is a good shot - but we are pretty darn good too.
Later in the day - David met up with his friend again for an all out water fight.
Dinner time - pizza right - no plan but who did we see there.  You guessed it.

At first we thought the odds were astronomical.  Then we put it together and statistically the odds are not so amazing - neighbors, geographical location (proximity to restaurants), we socialize and thus have similar interests, values, and preferences, we both have kids and need kid friendly places - well you get the picture - not so surprising after all and yet it caught us by surprise.

What did not catch us by surprise is David's eternal delight in just having fun.

David & Sarah - Sister and Brother Playing Chess

Sarah and David at Chess.

It is a nice summer day in June and Sarah and David are at it - playing chess at Straits.

The game was intense between them but mostly a chance to catch up and watch them bond.

You can guess who won.  Don't worry Sarah I still remember when you would beat my master's students at Stanford when you were 7 or so.  He beats all of us including me.

He loved seeing you - he really missed you when you went off to college.
