Passover 2010 - Boreh Pri Hagafen

Telling the Story Once Again.  Yes it was a somewhat abbreviated version of how Moses led the Jews out of slavery from the lands of Egypt.  Ok - it was almost at light speed,  but we covered the bases.

We washed our hands.  We dipped the greens, ate the bitter herbs; (which he really did not like - but that was the point as we explained).  We never want to live the bitter life of slavery ever again (and that we have an obligation to help others facing a similar fate - mentally, spiritually, or physically).

We asked the the four questions.  We ate the matzah (and explained how there just was no time to let it rise in the hot hot sun).  They were in a bit of a rush.  He liked that last part since we were in Israel a couple of summers ago and he remembered how much fun he had running really fast and how hot it was in the desert.

The big treat was that David recited the blessing once again:  "Boreh Pri Hagafen".

If you look carefully you can see that David is still wearing his yamulka.  Not too bad for a 3 1/2 year old young man.  By the way Summer cooked up a feast - it was great (tri-tip, yams, and my favorite strawberry, pine nut salad).

Did I mention some of his chants were at the top of his lungs.  Yes - he had a bit of energy - it was not exactly a calm and sedate Sedar.  But he did find the afficomin so we were able to complete the Sedar.  (We gave him a Thomas the train - with a chip that the toy station can read - announcing the train in the station - very cool, very high tech.  Only in Silicon Valley.)

Oh yes - the Sedar plate.  We had it all, but the horeset was a special Californian apricot jam. It was good (and sweet).  If you want to join us come visit by selecting this tiny video.

As I say, Summer did a great job - but was she tired by the end of the day - oh yes.  (I can still hear David yelling and having a good time - dancing non-stop - in the background).  Here are some flowers for a beautiful day sweet heart.
