David Goes to Overnight Camp at Age 6 - Kennolyn Camp
Kennolyn Camp
David is officially in the big boy club. He attended overnight camp for an entire week. This is what the front entrance of the camp looks like.
He had a blast. Mom and dad had a mini "vacation." But as the return day approached mom and dad were eager to see him. I guess it was a little too quiet in the house.

After a big hug reunion. David showed us the camp and waved and said hi and good-bye to almost every counselor there (as well as some of the kids).
The lifeguard never heard of a kid asking if he could do laps. He thought David was a better swimmer than he was. (Of course David has been taking lessons all year so my guess is that he was not a typical camper/swimmer in that regard.)
What do you think was the highlight of this little man's camping adventure? Jr. Ropes and zip line of course. This is David on the high wire going from tree to tree.

This is him on the zip line - totally free - breezing right by us.
Then it was off to the next adventure. Horseback riding.
(David's older sister Sarah loved horseback riding. I used to spend hours - I mean hours - watching her after school riding Smokey, Ralph and a host of equestrian stars.)
Now I am watching him on horseback. How did this happen again?
David spent an entire week with no video games, no computers - just nature, friends, counselors, healthy food, and good times. It is an absolutely beautiful place, as you can see, and a great learning experience for the little man - to spend a week away from his parents (on his own at 6) - strolling through nature.
By the way, it was really good to have him back home again.
